I've just become the proud owner of a Pandinus imperator, he's about 6" long and seems very docile. He'll only strike out at a stick or some such if it's right infront of his claws.
I really would like to hold him. What's the best way to start off? Some people have reccommended thick gloves and pincers, others herding him into a pot and letting him climb out onto a hand. Whatever I do, I don't want to stress the little guy out, but I'd love handle the little blighter. Oh, and does anyone find themself staring at their invert going 'you're so f***ing cool!' for hours on end? Muchos Appreciate!

All sorted, thanks to Incubuss.
I had him out last night - and he utterly failed to eat, sting or kill me, to the surprise of all the guys at work who've been treated to my blurry but proud cameraphone picture.

Simple, grab him but his tail (just below the sting) firmly but not to hard and place him on your hand. He will not sting the hand he is on as he will think it is the floor
