Default Butterflys?

my sister found a butterfly and its not flying is it time for them to hiberante coz if it is he is too late i think coz hes not flying i was thining put him in my room with a plant buy the window untill its ready to fly is that okay?

did you touch it? might have got rid of its dust or what its called when it loses it it cant fly?

Lots of british butterflies hibernate ie, torishells, peacock, red admirals and brimstones, you will sometimes see them out on warm sunny winter days but sometimes they get chilled and loose their energy. They hibernate in dark dry places, in sheds and under tree trunks. I would just put it in the garden shed until spring when it will wake and breed

The dust is small scales on their wings which give them their colour and i think also absorbs heat, it wont just fall off unless you rub it off

no but there wings are so delicate even if you touch them it can stop them flying. obvioudly you can hold them but you cant grab them.
