The deeper the substrait the better. I have one thats only 3inch atm and s/he has dug all the way to the bottom of his/her 8inchs of substrait.

I think the glass doors of exo-terra terrariums start about 4 inches from the bottom so i planned to use a peice of glass/plastic to stop the substrate falling out when the doors are opened.
That way i could have 6-7 inches of substrate depthwith 5-6 inches above ground.
