Default Compared to an Emp Scorp...

What are these like, in behaviour, size, eating frequency, and so on?

Any general care tips on these?

African Black Scorpion(Pandinus africanus)

Asian Black Scorpion (Heterometrus spinifer)

that species doesnt exist and is a importers cover to import a different species (pandinus cavimanus) to avoid cites issues ect

if it is this, i have one treat exactly the same as an emp
but give deep substrate for burrowing
they are quite large but not as big as an emp

as for Asian Black Scorpion(Heterometrus spinifer)
or giant asian forest scorpion
is black (obviously)
about 12-18cm ish @ adult
looks alot like the emp but has smoother claws aparantly
they also need deep substrate to burrow
cant be kept comunerly
see ----> Insects and Arthropods » Scorpions » Malaysian Forest Scorpion Main Page
for more details

hope this helps m8

They re typical Heterometrus, non aggressive, big and bulky.
They do well with a temp of about 25- 28c, with a higher humidity of approx 70%+, as mentioned they live in asiain forests.
They do look like Pandinus, but they are near enough smooth and non granulous.
TBH i havent heard of many reports of fatalities in communal set ups, BUt if theyr like my H fulvipes, they willl end up eating the room mate.... NICE!

What size tank would be okay, guys, and what sort of sub would you use, for these?

coir, eco earth type stuff is best imo, hmm same size tank as an emporer.. err medium exo-terra faunarium size, but with plenty to dig a burrow

Would a heat mat be needed with either of the two species that I mentioned, do you think?

I understand that they need a relatively high humidity, therefore, I guess putting in a water dish, and then spraying the tanks every day would do the job, but would some sort of heat mat be needed?

I am only used to desert species, ya see.

Are these two species quite interesting, I mean, are they relatively active, and decent eaters?

my red claw is always in its burrow and its fed urm 4 times in 6 months
but my desert hairy is always out and eats 2-4 large criks a week

i realy do prefer desert species

Yeah, but the selection of scorps, across the board, is poor, compared to that of spiders.
