Default moulting question

This may sound like a strange question, but when old tarantulas are in their final moult, does it look any different from usual? I ask this because the last moult of my pink toe (who was old) was very black and not as hairy, and my old salmon bird-eater has just moulted and is rather black and not as hairy....
Anyone noticed anything like this with their taras? it'll be interesting to find out.
