Default Megaphobea Robustum question

I have just paid for a columbian giant red leg through paypal from p.white on here, and it hopefully should be arriving wednesday sometime before 1pm. He is not on here at mo, so dunno if he got my msgs to say that i paid. hope so.
My question is how sharp are the spikes on the back legs of these species? not that ill be holding it lol.
Anyone else have this species?

good plan not handling it if it's healthy and alert!
i had a sling of this species, and was gutted when it died. however, i've learned something in retrospect that might have saved it...they require a fair amount of humidity and burrowing space...that's not to say if you're getting a sling that you should house it in a huge container, just something that allows a proportionately-sized burrow.
forgive me if i'm telling you stuff you already know, but this was kind of news to me and i'm glad i know for this next time i buy one.
humidity and access to water are key.
if it gets dehydrated, God forbid, (curly legs, trouble holding itself up, possibly shrunken abdomen), you can hand-feed it water with a cotton bud directly to the fangs. repeating the treatment for a few days day and night should help. otherwise it should get moisture from prey.
the reason i mention this is because of the fate of my poor M robustum...if i'd known then what i know now, it may still be alive
the treatment *should* work for any spider with dehydration. i hand-watered a C crawshayi sling for a good week, and he is running around full tilt now, full of life.

I keep slings in cereal type containers as they love to burrow, I found a cricket impaled on the spines of an adult female about 6 weeks ago so I guess they would be sharp enough to sting, but I hardly ever get close enough to worry about them personally

Woah young gun lol

I have a sling of these and its sooo skitty, flicky and defensive! But it doesn't threat posture, it goes like a star fish! Flattens itself out on the substrate with its chelicerae apart.. looks really weird lol

Lovely spiders though

I think it might be a mature female if you know anyone with a male

Well its arrived, and is gorgous!!
Bigger than I thought which is even better. Prob just over 3inches.
I called it Fanta and its in a tank about a foot long. I think its got enough sub to burrow into if it wants. It already had abit of a wander round but took a while to get it in the tank. it was so slow lol.
My dad is gonna get another flower pot soon so it can hide in there too.
I usually spray my spiders tanks, but this one will need a water bowl too?
I wont feed it today, ill let it settle in I think.

Thankyou for the advice. sorry about your robustum
