Default Your goliath experiences please.

I need to know how your experiences with goliaths have gone. Also, how do you transfer them when theyre that big safely and without getting bitten.
Is it safe to post something that big to someone, and I heard they have problems molting, even when big?
I have also seen many pics of big brown goliaths, but also seen some that are red or orange. Are they different colours when growing up? These were definalty T.Blondies that I saw pics of.
Thanks

Goliaths are generally earth brown in colour, but can be slightly lighter, especially in different lights, or under a camera's flash

I've not had any trouble with moults

When moving her, I cut the bottom off a 2l coke bottle and push it over her. Then just pop something over the end. Easy :o)

A lot of others use a small faunarium to trap them, but I've not got the mettle for that! lol

Hi,

Goliaths are superb but are higher maintainance than regular starter species such as Grammostola or Brachypelma. To transfer ours we lift them out on a flat corn scoop then onto our hands. Always keeping them very, very low to the ground and never had a problem.

Unless you are buying a Large Goliath, from a experienced, knowedgable keeper or dealer, it would be a bad idea to post. Goliaths stress easily, are very delicate and could sustain damage unless very welll packaged. My advice would be NOT to put such a great T in a box thats going to get thrown around by Royal Mail. (See a post on Arachnophiles by Neil Ashby regarding the fate of his Goliath.) Collect is best.

Ive heard of Moulting probs but havent had any probs with ours or our T.Apophysis.

The different colours will be down to the molts combined with photo setups. Goliaths are very dark when freshly molted and flas photograhy can make them appear very orange.

Hope this helps

Izan

My blondi is very dark in colour. To transfare such a large T I use something like a shoe box. I coax it in with a paintbrush, then coax it out into its new home. I'm with izan on the posting when it comes to blondi's, it is best to collect, but if you have a good bit of experience with packing then you shouldn't have problems, but why risk such a fragile T of that size?

I've not had any problems with moulting, but have heard of them.

i cant find anyone round here with one, sling or otherwise. I would prefer a slightly grown on one, as they take so long to grow.

I've got an adult female I'm selling if you want to travel to Norwich. As has been mentioned, I don't really want to post her.

Excellent feeders, good growers but mine recently had a bad moult due to the humidity not being spot on and he has broken a fang (possibly 2 ) He is eating ok though so for now he's ok.
Pricey and hard to come by generally. Huge in every aspect
