Default Quick Question

Just a quick question i'm getting a cobalt blue on tuesday and i'm setting the tub up ready for her arrival. Just wondering if I should put the heat mat in the tank or just underneath it? I've bought a 32litre tub which should be ok for it to burrow in I just wanted to make sure the heat was right for it.

Ive got my heatmat about 1/3 under the tank and its perfect.

If your not getting your spider 'till tuesday it may be worth setting the whole tank up now, trying the mat both under and in the tank and see which gives the readout you want.

Im no expert mind, others may reccomended not to put it inside the tank as heatmats CAN get very hot!! Even with a thermost ive never been keen on the idea of my animals getting that close to the heat source.

thanks for that I just didn't want to put the heatmat in then have disturb everything to take it back out again. I'm setting it up now ready to take with me as the t is being delivered to my place of work as there will be no one in to sign for it. And yes people at work think I am crazy and the postie isn't all that keen on delivering it to me, but never mind. At least i've warned them before hand. Lol!!

Don't put the mat inside the tank and don't put it underneath, stick the mat to the side of the tank, spiders and scorpions will burrow to escape heat, with a heat source below them they will only be burrowing into higher temperatures.

So I take it as the cobalt is a burrower then I shouldn't put it underneath the tank then. do I just stick it on the side with cellotape then? I have got heatmats underneath the other 3 tanks that I have my spiders in should I move them to the side as well?

Yup, stick it to the side of the tank, I use blu tak on the clear plastic outers but you can use cellotape aswell.
