Our sons preying marble preying mantis is about 9 months old now. She has developed brownish eyes and appears to be quite lathargic and having trouble holding onto her branches.

Are we to expect that this her last few days? Or can anyone suggest if there is anything wrong with her?

I thought i will add that she laid an egg case at the end of last year, but as she hadn't been with a male it was unfertilised.

Sorry, gotta say it, sounds like she's soon to plop her clogs.

All mantids will lay ooth (eggs sacks) even if havent had a male, but this is often a sign their soon to drop.

Dependant on age when you bought her, most only live about a yr.
