Question Little flies?

Does anyone else get little flies in their T set ups? We have a few enclosures that get them and some that don't,weird thing is that a couple of the set ups are identical and one gets them and the other doesn't...what are they and why are they such a pain in the rear end, lol!

Probably phorids. They come with crickets and like it warm and damp for breeding. They'll lay eggs and hatch maggots in crickets bodies etc if they die in the tank... Nasty and annoying!
Hard to get rid of too.

Annoying!! Yeah too right, lol! It's not until we spray the enclosure floor that they spring to life and start shooting off into the air to then haunt us into the evening so we sit swatting what looks like nothing to anyone in the same room as they're so bloody tiny, lmao.

Yep lol

The flies themselves don't do any harm, but say if one of your spiders was infected with a disease, the flies can spread it from tank to tank.

Only way I have found is get all spiders into tubs with nothing from the tank, substrate, decor etc and then empty all substrate and decor from every tank/tub, then sterilise.

Doesn't guarantee you will get rid of them either unfortunately.

Same here, they're in with my snails too and no matter how many times I do a thorough clean they appear again, I assumed they came in my substrate but changed it and they turn up again, I have loads at the moment, I need some flypaper !!!
