Default Confused about molting? How does it work?

When a T reaches its adult size what happens when they molt then? I know they only molt once a year or so, but how does the molt happen if theyre not gonna get any bigger? cos they only shed due to them needing to get bigger dont they? due to the liquid inbetween their new bigger body and their outer one?
Also wondered if thats why T's dont eat before a molt, cos they got new fangs inside them and the old ones on the outside wont function properly along with the digestive system etc?

It's an evolutionary thing. As adults the T will probably grow a tiny, unseeable amount each moult. It also gives them the chance to grow back hair, dropped legs/fangs etc And also to refresh themselves for breeding. As once a T has moulted it'll last longer between a moult to carry the eggs to full term.

Tarantula's refuse food before a moult as when they moult, if you look inside the exuvia, attached to the fangs you can see a small tube with a 'bag' on it.. That's your T's esophagus and pumping stomach So they don't eat before so as to give the tubes chance to detach.
