Most tarantula venoms will exhibit no more symptoms than a bee sting, though some are more potent than others. I have heard of symptoms of some asian/african tarantula bites including muscle cramps and swelling etc. There is also the risk of an allergic reaction of course.

Never heard of a monkey eating spider. There is a pamphobeteus sp. known as the chicken spider, and African tarantulas are often called baboon spiders.

Yeah as far as I know it is like a bee sting, but if you are allergic to bee stings you are best not to get any spiders. (that will readily bite anyway) As you could go into anpherlatic shock. (No I don't think I spelt that right). I've never heard of a monkey eating spider, but I suppose anything is possible.

Could be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that tarantula venom and bee venom are quite different, so if you are allergic to bee stings it doesn't necessarily mean you will be allergic to tarantula venom. Don't take my word for it though.

Besides it's pretty easy to not get bitten, even by the fastest most aggressive tarantulas.

Depends on the T, a chili rose (G. rosea) is like a bee sting, but an Indian ornamental (P. regalis) is far worse as it can cause paralisis. It's been recored that one guy showed symptoms of a P. regalis bite for over a year - stiff joints, head aches, muscle spasms ect.

Paralisis ? Now you say could of said something before I got 6 ornamentals .
Only joking lol.
Never been bitten in 2 years of collecting T's and I have some pretty aggressive species. Can only say what I've read and that is basically what everyone else has said about being like a bee sting etc .
