Thats making very little profit - it's simply the prices the wholesalers charge. Why they're so expensive I don't know... but there's no shop that can buy from a wholesaler and sell much cheaper and actually be making some money still.

I guess it could be a good thing in a way. It stops idiots getting them, and keeps them to mainly collectors.

As previously stated, that is expensive for a sub adult, but what the heck, you are clearly desperate to get one, so go for it !

However. Do NOT pay for it in full until you are happy with its size and condition. We have all been dissapointed at some point with spiders, smaller than described and/or in poor condition.

If its Wild Caught (and it probably will be) be sure that the abdomen is rounded and smooth. Beware if it is looking shrivelled / dehydrated.
Plus it will need to be a Female as a male will be of no use as a pet, dont get suckered into buying a male.

If you are paying 'top dollar' you should expect a good quality specimen. Should it be a case of pre pay dealer £100 and collect spider, there 'could' be problems.

Just trying to help.

All the best

Izan

thankyou. i would also like a female as they live longer and get bigger.
as you already said a shrivelled abdomen is a sign of dehydration and/or illness, but how long do abdomens take after molting to get to normal size again as my three spiders that have recently molted have tiny abdomens now and im spraying their tanks. How can I tell if the goliath would have just molted?
I will think about it more in any case before I jump in there.

£100 is a lot for a sub-adult.

I can ask in my local shop if you want? They've had a lot of Goliath's in over the past few months

I would hang on to the bts show in may, their are usually some their and reasonably priced. Plus you can bring it back with you and not have to worry about it being posted.
