Default Sling setups

I would love to see everyone elses sling setups! I have a couple of slings (bohemi and rosea) arriving on thursday and I'll be using delicups for the first few months.

I'd like to know, if I user paper towel substrate in the cups (instead of messy eco earch with tiny T's) will this cause problems when they are moulting? I'd like to think that it would be easy to keep the humidity up by simply spraying the tissue once or twice a week...

Mould will appearing more easily on paper towel. Some type of soil would be better...or vermiculite.

Okie dokie. I just don't want to deal with micro crix infesting their substrate if they don't eat.

Any pictures of your sling setups guys?

I don't think that a paper substrate would be suitable. If you kept it damp it would mould! My boehmei has burrowed under a piece of bark. That wouldn't be possible with paper.
Eco earth or similar is pretty much the norm.

Heres a nice site I found
Brachypelma

Micro crix must be removed if not eaten. They won't infest the substrate.

Yup 100% substrate. Tissue is fine for travelling but apart from that is just a breeding ground for germs..

I use various size pots for spiderlings of various sizes. Film cannisters, cricket tubs, jars for arboreals, large clear tall pots for smaller arboreals.

A few examples:

Cricket tub:

Jar with an arboreal species:

Thats! I love the crix tub setup. Very dainty.

I have lots of the small plastic tubs with split lids from cornish crispa that I may use instead, as with delicups heat isn't disrtibuted quite to evenly.

Thanks again

Heat is fine. I heat my whole bedroom on the central heating coz i've got about 90+ spiders of various species. The cooler ones live lower down, the warmer ones living higher up. Easy!

For heatmats you only want 1/2 of the tub on the mat, so they have a warm and cooler spot.

Yep thats what I was meaning. With a circular deli cup its harder to create an even heat gradient. It will be much easier to heat longer tubs like the conrnish crispa hatchling tubs.
