Default Should I take hide away

Hi

I've posted on here before about my b.smithi sling not eating. He turned a bit darker in colour a week ago but not sign of a moult yet and he hasn't eaten in quite a while. He spends all his time on the back wall of his hide. Should I take it out and leave him without one so he has better chance of finding his food or will it stress him out because he is used to a hide now? He's in a small jam jar at the moment, not a deep one though. I tried dead food too but it was still there the following morning.

Hi Mum

I'd leave it in there if I were you. S/he might not like change, especially if is going to moult. My B.Smithi sling moulted in it's hide, so yours may want to too.

I would've said Poncho's jam jar was a deep one!

No.. leave it in there. He likes his hide and its good he's using it. He probably won't moult in the open.. he'll moult inside the hide.

Hi mum, dont take it out. It may be spending alot of time in there cos its about to molt (and it may take a long time or a short time to build up to molting. Mine took forever after. It didnt eat for weeks and then was dark for ages.)
But I think its also in there alot cos its scared. Dont forget you havnt had it long, and since then youve rehoused him at least twice, and you keep offereing it food more than once a week.
Even with dead food, itll still stress it out if you keep going in there or tipping him all the time.
It needs to be left alone. The key to a successful molt is humidity (dont spray if substrate is already sodden) and leave it be. It will either take a long time or have an uncessful molt if disturbed too much.
It also wont have the security if you take its hide away, so it may decide its not ready to molt, and it may become very very stressed.
Dont forget its only very tiny.

Ok, I'll leave the hide in there and leave him be. Its frustrating though because I want to know what is going on with him.

Just leave him to it. He knows what he's doing
