Default my goliath looks nothing like a goliath.

Had my goliath through the post just now, and its in a cricket tub with kithen roll so cant see all of it yet obviously. I cant say how big it is, but was told its between 4 and 6inches.
I can see part of its body and some legs, but its jet black and the legs have orange stripes on them, just like Celia my goliath orange stripe.
I thought goliath birdeaters were supposed to be all brown or grey and really hairy and chunky, with no stripes on.
It says goliath birdeater 50pound on the tub.
Decembers_spawn said he got a goliath and saw mine in the shop before it was sent out to me, and said that it looked alot bigger than his at that age when he got his, so must be a goliath, but whats up with the stripes? They are on the knees I think, just on the lower park of the legs.
Gonna go up my rents house soon to transfer it to a new tank.
I like it, dont get me wrong, but it doesnt look like a goliath at all, and I dont want one thats going to grow up to look just like my other one, as much as I love her.

It certainly looked like a Goliath from what I saw, and at that age, they're not too thick anyway.

I had mine as a tiny sling, and it looked like it was going to grow into a Daddy Longlegs lol. She's a bigg'un now, and still not fully grown

Hasnt the pot got the scientific name of the spider on?
Loads of pet shops call they're spiders goliath bird eaters, but it doesnt mean they are THE goliath birdeaters.
I bought my brazilion salmon pink off a reputable shop, but they labelled her as a goliath birdeater. If i hadn't asked for the scientific name, i would have thought id be going home with a blondi.
My rule is: never trust the common name alone.
Always check the scientific name aswell, just to be on the safe side.
Hope it turns out to be a blondi

I would kinda like to try one of those at some point.

/hijack/As an aside, you don't happen to be a fan of Crowbar are you?

Most definitley. Probably my favourite band - they tie with the mighty Dime.

Its a great song, although my fav is probably suffering brings wisdom.

Ah, finally, I meet another fan!

Mate, Crowbar rock my world. I'd be hard pushed to give you a fave track, but Broken Glass is my fave album. I just used the name, as it's a great universal username (it's my 360 tag and all that).

No news on a 'Bar tour yet. Down in April, and then Kingdom of Sorrow shortly after. However, the new CD is written, but not recorded, so I reckon we can hope for an early 09 tour
