Default Here's Georgie.

Here are some pics of Georgie my new tortoise.

Sorry they are a bit dark.

This was supposed to show the two light/heating units. The large one on top of the cage is a heater and the smaller one hanging inside the cage is the UV light.

Here is the little girlie herself.

To be honest I will probably transfer her to a larger cage in the next couple of days so that I can put the heater inside the cage itself.

I have also changed her bedding as they recommended one that wasnt so fine and she now has a hiding place but just keeps trying to climb it

Georgie is a sweet little torty

So you get a good temp gradient your uvb and basking light should be at the same end really... your tort will also get more access to the uvb this way.

The hemp you had in yesterday was a better choice really

Sorry if anyone reading this thinks I'm being picky... it's a follow on from advice asked for on another thread!

Cheers Tina.

They advised me to change incase the other stuff got stuck to her food and she ate it.

Dont mind changing it back, what ever is best for her.

Yeah I wanted the two lights closer together but the smaller cage wont allow it. I will be changing her to the bigger one, then I should get the two lights closer together.

I really wanted the strip type of UV but they didnt have it and I didnt want to leave her without UV any longer than I had too.

I have turned the UV off now but left the heat lamp on.

Hope Im doing things right.

Gotta scour the garden tomorrow for weeds that she can have. I dont get that many at the moment so I can see me planting some seeds to rectify that. Had to buy some leafy bits for her today.

Thanks Littlefoot.

The UV bulb I have got is a Exo Terra Repti Glo 26W 10.0 compact and it cost £20.00.

I have got to put a larger bowl in for her, havent done yet as I want to put her in a bigger enclosure. Its a bit snug in the current one.

Im gonna look for another bowl today as the ones I saw yesterday were all huge and very deep so wasnt sure if she would be able to get in and out.

Get a piece of slate to feed her on Vicky then she won't ingest any of the hemp. Garden centres and diy places sell it and it's quite cheap... even a slate tile would be okay.

**EDIT**
Sorry, forgot to say... you don't need any heat at night... normal room temp is fine and they should have a temp drop overnight so turn both of your lamps off.

Okay cheers Tina

Will a ceramic tile be okay until I get a slate one?

Great I can turn the ceramic heat lamp off as well, I was worried about it being on all night.

Default Georgie has a new pen.

I moved Georgie into a new pen/cage the other day.

Just got to add some plants if I can and she will be all set.

As you can see I have managed to get the heater and UV light closer together now.

Oh and these pics are of her trying out the grass. It was nice and sunny today so I thought she might like the outdoors for a while.

But she just decided to play hide and seek in the grass as its a bit long.
