Default Baby alligator snapper

hi all, just took a few pics of my baby alli snapper so i thought i'd share





i tried to get pics of him looking mean but he always closes his mouth when he sees the camera

so instead we get cute...........

They look so cute when they are young. Always thought they would be smelly when they get big though

Apparently the name comes from the fact that they inhabit the same places that alligators do, not because they look like alligators, which they don't really!

my understanding of the name has always been becuase of the 3 keeled rows on the carapace, alligators also have keeled rows on their backs and at a glance in shallow muddy water the 2 are often mistaken for each other, if just the keels break the surface they are extremly hard to distinguish apart at first glance, i heard that from a guy in the USA
