They need plenty of circulating air, and, again , open to debate, but I would not call most chameleons a 'good beginners lizards' as its not the easiest hing to get the set up right nor the diet.
Crested Geckos are a great suggestion, and cute little blighters as well.
Or, for some thing a little different, take a look at Cuban Knight Anoles !
Yes, I`ve read that chameleons can be difficult to keep, as much as I like them, I think it would be too ambitious to try right now.
