Many thanks for the reply. Re fitting halogens too close and causing burns, what would a rule of thumb be for too close? Can you please advise on the difference between the two arcadia products I linked to previously, I've been guided towards the first one but I don't see it represented on your site.

you have to do these things by eye and use your non-contact thermometer to check it. You want wide beams rather than tight spots, then measure the temp that is provided after an hour on the basking platform.


I would always use halogen myself, the choice is as always, yours.
