Default Question regarding my DIY incubator

Hello guys,

I've half built my diy incubator atm, but have a few questions regarding the incubator itself.

1. Do I need to have holes in the polybox (my incubator) for fresh air?

2. As I am also running a computer fan inside the incubator so to increase air flow/equal temperature, does that mean i can skip having holes in the incubator for fresh air?

3. I am using heat cables and managed to get good average/stable temperature, but in terms of best stable temperature will placing the heat cable at the bottom of the box be better than having it on the sides all around?

Thanks in advance guys!

No holes for air no fan either. I have a heat mat on floor then the eggs are lifted above the heat on blocks of wood.

Oh, so you think i dont even need a fan inside for air flow? and no holes in the poly box incubator?

i've read that people said having a fan will regulate the air and temperature? is that not needed?

What eggs are you hatching with yours?

I haven't got a fan in mine. Exactly the same set up. I breed corn snakes.

do you open the incubator once in a while to allow air exchange? or is that not needed at all?

Would the temperature be different from bottom to top if there's no fan inside?
