the first one is exceptionally accomodating, its still a Bothrops but if you wouldnt know better you could get complacent very quickly. it was captured as a neonate and has spent its whole life in captivity, it is happy being hookhandled, feeds like a bloody black tail, and is exceptionally calm when taking it out to photograph. the lower one on the other hand is mental. proper bothrops stuff. aggressive, tries getting up the hook - ideally want to use a grab with it, and generally does whatever it can within its abilities to get to you. it is however a stunning snake, very crisp patterning!

its a facility still in the process of being built at present, awaiting some further funding, and with any luck a grant. belize vivarium, or technically belize herpetarium and aquarium park. all these photos are not of the exhibits, thats the behind the scenes stuff. all but the croc exhibits are still empty. may soon be home of a captive breeding project to try to stabilise populations of Dermatemys. its a great place, and the guys who have started it up are top guys, very close friends of mine. somewhere i urge people to go visit when we are set up! when i am back out there (sooner rather than later i hope, and for good next time) i will get some general photos of the various facilities

Absolutely stunning animals Carpy.

I'll avoid obvious quotes and quips regarding my username and simply state that I am very very jealous and please post many more photos of these stunning snakes!

Cheers

Andy
