Default Viv background

Hi all
This may be a stupid question. I have been thinking about buying or making a 3d background for my vivs but am unsure what happens about the vents at the back. Assumably if you cover them up you effect the ventilation of the viv. So what do you do when your vents are on the back of the viv? or do you cut holes in the back ground where the vents are?
Thanks
