Default Heating Vision 222

Hi all

I have a male royal python in a vision 222. I orginally bought the Vision for a future project with a ETB in mind. However, after badly damaging the royals viv while moving house i deceided to test the vision with the royal.
I'm heating with a 60watt Pearlco ceramic, controlled by a microclimate pulse stat.
I just cant get the temp past 77oF, despite having the stat set for 82oF. i can't use a larger ceramic as it's a 60watt max for the vision heat shroud.
Any ideas?

Best to ingore the numbers on the stats dial - they don't always prove accurate.
(Ideally you want to have the stat probe in line with the ceramic - I have mine about 4" off the floor so the snake doesn't lay on it and shield it from the ceramic.)
Ignore the temp settings on the stat, just turn it up until you get the temp you want, using a decent mercury or digital min/max thermometer to monitor it.

You may have to have the stat set well above the temp you want, but as long as the probe can't be moved the temp will stay steady.

If you still can't get the temps high enough then move the probe slightly further away from the ceramic - a couple of inches to one side and try again.

Not sure how large a Vision 222 is (2x2x2?) but if the 60w is struggling it may take a while for the viv to reach the correct temp, so leave it as long as possible when setting it before making any adjustments - couple of hours at a time maybe.
