Thanks (:

The dimensions are 18" x 18" x 23" (W x D x H).

He's 6 months old but it's been so long since I did my research on them I've forgotten how old he'll need to be before he goes into the bigger viv (the one shown in this thread).

Not long, he's looking a decent size already. Which is good news for us, as we're all looking forward to seeing his main viv get finished

Ordered a couple of items for the viv today which will be here sometime this week! Ordered some magnetic strips & some wire mesh.

The magnetic strips are for the door to keep it shut. The mesh will be for the door, top and the false floor for drainage.

I'm planning to have a plastic floor just above the wooden base which will funnel all drainage water into a pipeline. Separating the plants from the plastic will be a wire mesh floor with a layer of kitchen roll (or something more visually pleasing which is just as easy to clean/replace).

The door will be fully meshed & two/three hinges for easy access when cleaning & feeding. The top of the viv will also be meshed and on hinges for easy access to the back if maintenance is required and for if/when any additional decor gets installed.

The sides (inside) will be lined with a bamboo screening for a sense of texture & to give it a more natural & aesthetically pleasing look.

Also, I should be going into town this weekend to buy the vents! So hopefully an update of how the build looks in on the horizon!!

The wood for the door & the wire mesh have been bought. I'm off to homebase tomorrow to buy the vents, screws & hinges then the day will be spent making and fitting the door, adding the vents & possibly cutting the hole in the top for the heat lamp & uvb light to go. Looking forward to getting this done!

Okay, so all the basics are done now after a stressful, hectic & rushed weekend. If I'm honest, I rushed this so much & it really shows. Most of the vents only have two screws in just so they're held in place. It's habitable now and that's all I wanted to occomplish for now, I can tidy & refine it as time goes on. Making it look great won't be of a benefit to Optimus so I'm not fussed about how shoddy it looks right now. It's just annoying really.

Anyway, this is how it looks right now.

I'll update this thread with more pictures once he's in & when the viv improves

Okay so it's all set up now & he's in there loving it

I managed to borrow a door knob from a cupboard we don't use in the garage for the time being :p so from now on, small improvements will be made from time to time & when I feel it's complete I'll post more pictures

Anyway, some feedback on how it looks so far would be great!
