Default Removing vivarium top

I know this is probably such a stupid question but I’m struggling at the moment. I’ve got a Standard vivarium Oak 48inx24inx24in that my dad built for me ages ago. I now need to lift up the roof/ top wooden panel to switch the thermostat probe as I’ve upgraded my thermostat but for the life of me I can’t get it off. I’ve tried unscrewing some of the screws to loosen it but I still can’t get it off and i’m being very conscious of not being too aggressive as I really don’t want to break anything.

Thank you for any help

It has probably been glued too.
Hold a piece of wood (or anything else to keep from marking the wood) inside top towards the back end and tap away with a large hammer and see if that will ease it apart.
Make sure all screws have been removed first

Yeah ... don’t some wooden viv units have kinda ‘hidden’ bolts ??

cam bolts but unless there is a background made covering all the walls you would still see them internally but as this is a "homemade" build i reckon they were not used anyhow unless the op meant a flat pack was put together by dad!!
