Default Dry/ desert viv background

Hi I have looked around, but cannot find anything conclusive. I am setting up a bearded dragon viv for my wife and a Ackie monitor viv for myself. I was to setup a natural looking viv for both. My plan is to use sand/excavator clay with rock to for the main structure, but I need advise on the best option for backgrounds. I was thinking expanding foam covered in clay or something, but worried it will crack and or be damaged by the animal.

I don't want to get into painting and trying to make a fake rock effect (I know I will suck at it). what are my best options to achieve a natural background....

Thanks

Rob
