Default Heating

Hi I was hoping for some advice on heating a 30gal leopard gecko tank (uninhabited)
Right now I have a 30gal aquarium turned on its side and have on the back wall a heat mat and strapped to the front screen a 150watt ceramic heat emitter the thermostat I have it plugged into says the tank is barely 80f on the warm side (after being on for 4 hours) but the glass top is getting to hot to touch
Any tips for getting the heat right?
