Default UV light size query?

Hello

At the moment my beardies are in a 3ft viv with uv stip going across the whole width.

We are going to move them to a 4ft Viv at some point in the future and i was going to buy a 48" strip light but the man in the reptile shop said 42" is enough

So is 42" enough for a 4ft Viv or do i go with my original thought of 48"?? I thought it was better to go right across the viv so they get uv whether they are basking or in the cool end.

Cheers

i cant help but think a 48" bulb plus the bulb holder ends wouldnt fit in a 48" viv especially considering the vivs are often measured from the outside.. so the inside measurement is likely to be something like 47.5"...

I personally think a 42" would be fine for a 4ft viv

I went for 42 for the same reasons as above. It covers most of the tank anyway.
