Default help! terranium heating advice

I have noticied alot of people who seem to keep melting the plastic tops surrounding the wire mesh on the exo-terra terraniums.
how do you heat these sufficiently for a chameleon without melting the plastic????? do i use a stand. do i rest the light domes ontop of the wire mesh. cans some1 please enlighten me?

I just use a ceramic held above the mesh away from the plastic surround with a reflector on the bulb.

I have a 100 watt power sun suspended 3" above my exo terra, and it's fine
