I'm very jealous. You have a great collection and they all look really healthy. I love your babies, and I didn't even know they'd reclassified loricata, and I've not really seen any outside of the pictures in the Thomas wilms book.
Very impressed.
An amazing collection you have there and congratulations on the babies.
Your male Maliensis is very impressive and takes a great picture :2thumb:
I am unfamiliar with Saara loricata. Do you have any information on them? Thanks for sharing : victory:
Jay
The Saara loricata used to be Uromastyx loricata and there is a description of them in Thomas Wilms his book Uromastyx (from Herpeton)
This is a great book by the way!
There are a few pics in there from P. Kodym, who is the breeder of my animals. Saara loricata Iraq and Iran and can get up to 50 cm.
Love to colours on the Juvi's!! Nice little collection there.... Should get some pics of the setups too. They look really good from the small sections that I seen in the pics. Would like to see them as a whole :2thumb:
so jealous of all your uros, would love to have a bigger collection then the 4 i have now. on the plus side for me my second ornate is looking more likely to be a female now so i might actually have a pair : victory:
Superb collection! some beautiful looking animals, very clean and tidy vivs/room which is always good to see.
Love to see people having success breeding Uro's, good work.
You keep anything else or are you dedicated to Uros?
Thanks for the nice comments, really apriciate them!
@Andy, yes hatchlings are always super cool to see.... Its so cool watching a lizard hatch.... I got some Uromastyx ornate eggs that hatched this week, and some chuckwalla eggs in the cooker.
@Garrow3, well this collection took me about 16 years to build
@Snake in the grass,
I have some more lizards, as one of my prides is my leopard gecko wich started my lizard addiciton. I have him for 16 years now, he was an WC adult when I got him, and he still doing great.
Besides that I also have 1.2 Sauromalus hispidus, 2.2 Sauromalus ater (normals and redtails), 1.0 Xenagama batilifera, 1.1 Dispsosaurus dorsalis, 1.1 Ctenosaura alfredschmidti and 1.2 Smaug (Cordylus) giganteus.
So it's not only Uromastyx, but more like a desert based collection.
I'm not sure what grey substrate you mean.... I use washed playsand for all Uromastyx as a substrate and use a lot of flagstones (gray and yellow and red) The washed playsand can be a little different in coulor depends on the brand.....
Some new pics of the recently hatched Uromastyx ornata, these just hatched july 17th
And I thought my collection was good! you have some there I would give a limb or two for. Would love to read about your breeding routine, feel free to drop me a pm :whistling2: always nice to see another uromastyx breeder
