Very nice Mark and big congrats. Im only viewing via phone at the moment. Were both parents W&Y ? If not what are the visual markers to confirm its W&Y at this stage. It might be the crappy pic on my phone but I cant make out anything obvious. The reason I ask is that I have W&Y to an Eclipse combo morph cooking and dont have a clue what to look for in regards to W&Y hatchlings at the time they pop out the egg.

Your Mack Bell het RADAR that came to us via Laura has done the deed with my RADAR girli. Eggs cooking and looking good.

Hiya Mal,

Thanks for that!

In a nutshell 'you can tell' !

Compare a W&Y to a normal and there's something different for sure.
Best way I find to describe it is 'enigma lite'..... That fuzzy washed out enigma edging to the pattern that you get is there with these, but less obviously.

Also, they tend to have a 'hypo' type look and often a light coloured head.

Now for the disclaimer......

I honestly think that you get 'low quality' W&Y and top quality W&Y, as you do with snows, tangerines, carrot tails etc. As part of this I think that a 'poor quality' one can be hard to spot from a normal. Top quality ones you can see from a mile off, they literally stand out.

Expect to see lots of low quality ones around very soon......

Soon?

Nice start to the season Mark! Nice to see some W&Y's that are just that.
There were too many questionable ones last year. It's all too easy to stick the W&Y label on paler geckos.

Totally agree mate.

A few years back when I got my first male, I could have lobbed him across every female I had. I didn't....

Now every Leo 'breeder' pretty much have W&Y thanks to our continental cousins, it seems that most are doing just that. Therefore we will have lots of 'crap' W&Y in the very near future. In my honest opinion this will just devalue the morph and I don't mean financially. You will just get lots if poor quality W&Y around like you see poor quality snows/tangerines etc.

Nobody seems to want to work at 'improving' lines any more, it seems to be all about how many genes you can pump into one animal. Tbh it's boring me a bit now.

I'm debating whether to move on my 'morphs' and concentrate my time on other stuff. Mostly because people no longer seem to want quality, just cheap genetics. I spent several years sourcing my animals from literally all over the world, to make sure I had the best 'ingredients'. Others have just gone out and bought on import the latest and greatest to start at the top.

It's not a race and I'm not arsed, I just get annoyed that what I love doing is being made to look like a competition by many people.

Ah well - may the quality W&Y rule!
