Default crestie feeding

i am a little confused as to the type of diet for my young crestie

some ppl just use cgd
others mix it with fruit
some occasionally feed crickets
afew ppl say its important to add d3 to calcium when dusting crickets

plls could any 1 give me advice on this as at the moment i feed my little 1

cgd mixed with fruit 1 day and 3 pinhead crickets dusted with calcium only another day

i do this each day.

thanks for looking

We just mix our cgd with water as it is designed as a complete diet and any mixing of anything with nutrients into it may unbalance the nutrient content of the diet and if it gets unbalanced that is when problems can occur. I di feed insects once or twice a week to my juvies but my adults rarely get insects.

I use the repashy 2 part system (a base powder and a flavour) which i get from America. This comes in different flavours, so they get a varied menu.

I feed crickets maybe once a week, although the juvies get livefood 2 -3 times a week. These i gutload and dust with calcium 3 out of 4 times, the 4th time i dust with nutrabol.

I occassionally give pureed fruit as a treat, sometimes i mix this with the base of the 2 part system.

I think it is okay to mix the cgd with fruit sometimes, but it has a banana flavour and is designed to be mixed with water, that way you know you are getting the ratio/balance right.

depends what CGD you have.. READ the back of the bottle/packet.

some need water
some need fruit
some need powder

go by your own CGD.. if you dont, and use fruit when water is supposed to be used, then you will umbalance it. It also tells you how to mix it and what ratio to use.

We personally use CGD with fruit measured by weight.

and crickets probably once a month for a ''treat''

I know a lot of people mix it with fruit - I dont think if fed occassinally it will harm but over a long period I'm not too sure. Has anyone asked Allen Repashy who designed the diet if it will be OK mixed with fruit? I do feed pureed fruits with supplements in sometimes but I tend to stick to the diet with water mix, which mine eat with relish so I dont really see a point mixing other additives such as fruit in it.

Ive just read Ginas post above and I hadnt seen some could be mixed with fruit so fair enough lol.
