Default panther chameleons

I was wondering if any type of panther chameleon can mate with another panther without any complications? Ie.. a ambilobe picaso and a nosey be? I have had a look on the internet but cant find anything that would say, would it happen in the wild?

I'll be corrected if i'm wrong, but ....
It can be done, and some people do it, there isa firm inthe USA http://www.chameleonsonly.com/ that sells panther morphs
BUT, most keeepers prefer to keep the separate types of panther 'pure'
bit like pedigree dogs/cats, etc....
hope this helps...

yep just like daddycool says!! (he's getting too good! )

a true panther keeper will not want hybrids as they confuse the lineage. better to keep the panthers as pure as possible. although there is an increasing market for crosses. (not my cup of tea really)

wow i nearly missed this one....reading all the care sheets and web-sites is starting to pay off!!
thing is...when i find something out...i like to share it

if you look at the web-site it does have some very nice chameleons, and explains why it cross-breeds them, but i think that the pure breeds look better than the morphs...and after seeing some of the panthers on rob lanes web-site (although it doesn't say whether they were all pure, and i don't know what regional type the 'ghost panther' was, but it looked very nice), you wouldn't bother with them as his chameleons are quite stunning
I was amazed though that when you look at that web-site, you can tell which babies were from which father chameleon....

whilst looking through some sites....this one is prob off the forum, but it relates to this post....
Prism Chameleons Panther Chameleon Breeder - Ankaramy, Ambilobe, Nosy Be, Deigo Suarez, Ambanja, Mafana, Tamatave - All Locales talks about the areas where the panthers come from....quite informative, and nice pics of some panthers they have / had for sale (in the USA)
