Default Lighting- Tungsten bulbs

I just wanted to get peoples opinions please, my oh and I are having a discussion about lighting for the Chameleon tank we are doing.

Well the thing he has brought up is that tungsten bulbs are slowly being fazed out.

Check out these two

So what are people thoughts on this and what to use as alternatives in producing basking spots/lighting?? What different bulbs can be used? Are energy saver bulbs any good, safe to use?

I am positive you will find that these bulbs will be phased out as house hold items but will still be made and marketed for specific uses.

Energy saving bulbs are no use as they specifically don't give out any heat - that's the 'energy saving' bit.
