Default Claws

How can you tell if/when they are getting too long on a gecko?
And if they do grow too long, what is the normal method of trimming? Letting them walk on a more abrasive surface or having them cut? I was just thinking that for a vet to cut them would be very risky, considering their size and relative difficulty knowing how close to the quick the cut is made.

I'm pretty sure Pan's claws are perfectly fine at the moment, but I'm concerned the lino won't keep them regularly trimmed. I was going to let her have a wander on the patio this afternoon but work kind of got in the way...

My cresty jumped onto my face the other day and she dug her claws into my lips as my girlfriend pulled her off. It was pretty painful and I had a few blood leaks lol.

Not helpful but thought you might find it amusing.

LOL I had a hamster like that, she was evil... I am however very much aware of the sharpness of gecko claws seeing as madam features likes to latch herself onto my t-shirt or bedding when it comes time to put her away lol, she seems to be in a funny mood this evening...
