when i put the basking spot up to 107-110F he sits there with his mouth open, im told this is because its to hot and hes trying to cool down, but... at 108f???
the only time he sits there without mouth open is when its about 103F
so should i make it 103F as that looks like what he likes the most???
I could be wrong but him opening his mouth is just to reg the temp... so hes not too hot but not cold. if he was too hot i guess he would just move aay to his cool end so i woulnt worry. i did ask the same question about a week or two back and was told the above... hes "cool" as he is
It is called gaping. They do this to thermo regulate themselves, so it will be keeping you're beardie at just the right temperature. No need to lower temps!
your temperatures are spot on mate, like the others have said, the 'gaping' is just thermo-regulation and how they let off heat, they will sit in the basking area and do this frequently, if it was 'too hot' he would go hide away from it, if he's happily sitting in his basking area and gaping he is perfectly fine, don't worry
