Thumbs up An Introduction to MAHIC

Hi all!
I thought i would start this forum off with an introduction to our club!

The Mid Anglia Herp & Invert Club or MAHIC is a relatively new club officially formed in may 2011.
We target members from Suffolk and Essex, we have members from Colchester, Clacton, Harwich, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Sudbury, Diss, Thetford etc.

We have been fast growing and currently have a diverse group of over 80 members from all age groups from toddlers to pensioners!
We are a social group with a focus on education, conservation, welfare, support and fun! these make up our club values.
We are a non profit club aiming to educate and promote the welfare and advancement of the hobbyist keeping and breeding of all reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.

We have monthly meetings every second Tuesday of each month at the Kingfisher pub in Ipswich. We have our own room, with its own entrance.
The multi award winning pub is located very close to the A12 & A14 for easy access!

As a member of MAHIC you can have the benefit of discounts at over 10 local and online hobby related shops and organisations, free or subsidised monthly meetings, guest speakers, monthly email newsletters, subsidised trips and events, access to our members area on our website and our facebook group, discounted frozen, live and dried foods, and theres the "hatchlings" for the junior members

We are also in the process of setting up our own conservation site, which members can participate in surveying, identifying native species and managing etc!

We are a very active club, and we try to involve everyone of all ages in our activities! We are also affiliated with the FBH and keep our members informed of the advancements in the hobby!

We take a very hands on approach, and like getting out and about, in the past we have visited places such as the (former) Rainham reptile reserve and crocodiles of the world, we are planning a trip to Amazonia, and even a herping holiday in India!

MAHIC also run a re homing and rescue service, club members can have the opportunity to take on rescued or re-homed reptiles as and when we get them! details of this can be found here

Joining us is quick, easy and inexpensive! it can be done online or at any meeting or event!

Everything you need to know can be found on our website, if you have any questions please feel free to PM me or contact us via our website!

Be sure to check our past events gallery and classified whilst you are there

Thanks for looking and see you soon!
