    Hi,

I'm about to buy a crested gecko when I have an appropriate vivarium and your site on how to make the enclosures is really helpful and answers loads of my question!

Thank you and do you sell baby crested geckos?

Hi, hope you don't mind me messaging you, saw one of your threads about cresties enclosures and wanted to ask you something..

Is it ok to keep a crestie in a tall RUB? Because i have fallen inlove with a crestie for sale with a big RUB and it has vines etc just wondering if this is ok?

    thanks for your time

Hi, thought you would like to know that Scramble has stared to lay eggs. So far we have one baby which looks like it may turn out like it's mother i.e orange peppered tiger. There are two other eggs which I am trying to incubate but not sure as to how old they are?

Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify I dont dispute your abilities. Ive tried to sex them using pores before however I think the magnifing glass was too weak. I have found a higher magnification one prehaps I will have time to give that a go tonight. If that doesnt work I will have to stretch for a jewellers loupe.

If i realy get stuck i will send some pictures over to you, ive got a gd camera so they should be clear. Thanks again for your reply, wish you all the best.

    cont again!... oops!!

At the time i started doing this i didnt know of any other breeder in the UK doing so, so i think its a good way to show i have faith in my ability to sex them, and to prove i'm not one of those horrible scammers trying to sell babies as young females! (Grr those people annoy me!!)

At 13g yours should be easily sexable if you know what you're looking for, if you sent me some clear photographs i could probably give you a good guess over the net.

Thanks for asking, if you dont ask you never know, and i'd hate for anyone to think i was scamming people.

    ....Sorry was too long!

    cont...

To my knowledge i've only ever gotten it wrong twice, once with a very highly patterned blonde harley (who i still own) who looked female v.late on, and the other a super dalmatian which was very highly spotted, and i've got photos to prove just how female it looked even v.late on after i sold it (I even showed it to a few 'experts' in the US and they said female too, even at way over the normally sexable size, so it just goes to show its never 100% accurate till they drop eggs!).

I'm glad you pointed out the 'guaranteed' bit, because what i offer with the subadult/non-proven females i sell is a money back guarantee that the gecko is sexed properly - not sure if you found that page on my site but basically, if i've stated a gecko is sexed and i am wrong, then the buyer can return the gecko to me and have 100% of their money back.

No worries, its always full! lol In my experience the size you can sex a Crested comes down to a mix of 2 things; experience and the patterning of the geckos stomach. On geckos where they're a pretty uniform colour in the preanal area, its a lot easier to identify preanal pores, and so ive found that once a gecko is over 6ish g and a good clear colour they're sexable with a good eye and a 10x loupe. I know people in the US who sex even smaller.

I never ever sex by bulge alone, so the fact bulges come and go doesnt matter, and i will only sell a gecko as sexed when i'm over 95% certain that i can see the preanal scales clearly enough to spot any pores.

[I couldn't pm you as you message box was full]
    Hi,

Ive checked out your site and saw the geckos you have sold. I noticed you have sold a fair few females, two of which were under 10g. You classed these as (guranteed) females, how can you be sure a gecko is female under 10g especaily at 6g?

Under 10g bulges can come and go and pores might not have had a chance to develope.

Please let me know how you sex your geckos because I have a few youngsters at about 13g each and I cant seem to sex them accurately.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Many thanks

p.s some of your geckos are marvelous

Good news today I thought i'd share! Tarragon (my big fat olive lump of a Crestie) laid a clutch to my surprise in january, despite being separated from a male, and not having layed in about 5months!

I wasnt expecting them to be fertile, but i never throw out eggs, and today I decided to candle them and sure enough one of them is a nice pinky colour! yay! the other is yellow inside and likely unfertile as i expected they both would be, but the fertile one is a nice little surprise!!!...

Ok so i'm not much of a 'blog' kinda gal but i'm bored so i'll give it a go!!

I've had a VERY unproductive day today, supposed to be doing 2 physiology lab reports but did none of them. Oh well!!! I blame the weather!!

I'm trying hard to make an effort to lose some weight for my holiday in 2 weeks so i've bought the Paul McKenna 'I can make you thin' Cd system and i love it so far! lets hope it works!!! But my damned housemate Fi has gone and made some double chocolate...
