Well id be very wary if hes told you that! Im using komodo cricket dust at the moment but i usually use the calypso stuff it sticks to the feeder much better.

Basically the nutrobal contains d3 too much of this will cause issues. It actually states on the pack to use one pinch for 25 crixs thats not alot at all! Even to a nocturnal species that doesnt have access to much uv which helps convert d3 its only used a few times a week.

Nutrobal should be used once to a maximum of twice a week as its not just a calcium dust its a multi vitamin to much is very dangerous to your reps this will give you several other problems including calcium narcosis (sp). You need a calcium dust the rest of the time. Is your vet a rep specialist?

Personally i wouldnt. If you do keep a spare viv. Its very likely to go wrong. I thought you said your male died. Try feeding butterworms to your girls when they lay and whilst gravid they have double the calcium of most feeders. Also gutload locusts and crixs with kale its very high in calcium. Id have thought tho that the lizard would develop MBD before just dying.
