Default Handling Leopard Geckos

I've recently got a new leo, hes so cute But when I get him out all he seems to want to do is make a run for it, and i've gotta grab him quick! I've dropped him twice! Is this just because hes a baby and is active? Hmm Has anybody got any tips on handling leos? thanks :P Hes about 5-6 month old now thanks

The way to deal with this is to just keep handling frequently and the baby will grow up to be less skittish
Just keep trying, should resolve itself soon

Lol, as long as there is a clear space and nothing for it to run and hide behind you should be ok

Sorry for multiple posts but, also if your scared it keeps trying to make a jump for it, handle lower to the ground or surface to avoid injury

I have found a great way to handle my little monsters...If you hold them over a clear bed if they fall they have a soft place to land. The bed is ideal as they cannot make it very far before you catch them. Just make sure you do not make any sudden movements or lould noises. Geckos seem to be more confortable if they have a place to hide so that they can see you but you cant see them.

with mine I started by putting my hand in the viv with a mealworm on it. Eventually they came over (took a while, 1st time was about half an hour). After a while i took the mealworm away and just started putting my hand in, until they got used to it. Now they usually climb up onto my hand.

As for handling, when lifting them, have them in the flat of your hand with your thumb over the back of their shoulders asserting VERY GENTLE pressure. As said, no sudden movements. Then move them to an area where they can wonder over you and the surrounding space (I use the sofa - just watch out they dont dissapear down the back!!).
