Default Housing Male and Female Beardies

Hi Guys,

i am looking at getting some bearded dragons however i have a few questions!

can males and females be housed together permanently? i seem to be finding conflicting information as to whether they can or cant!

also would a 1mx50cmx45cm tank be large enough to house 2 beardies if they were let out regularly?

thanks!!!

4x2x2 viv is minimum size for 1 adult beardie but 2 will go in there fine. a male and female will breed and then the male will constantly harass her so they will eventually need separating

I personally chose to just get the one beardie, was tempted to get two but thought that food intake & healthy, regular pooping would be more difficult to keep track of for each beardie. Also I believe that baby beardies can accidently nip their housemates tail or toes when hunting which wouldn't be very nice for the littleluns. Furthermore, I have been told by respected breeders on the forum that beardies can reach sexual maturity as early as 6 months old - at this point you would have to seperate them anyway. Hope this helps

ok thanks for that! i have been looking into glass vivs for my beardies and wondered if any one knew where i would be able to get one that is larger than 1m in length as this is the biggest glass one i seem to be able to find? or does anyone know where i could get one custom made in glass if there are none that are mass produced?

thanks guys!

Wouldnt use a glass tank for a beardie as they dont hold temp good in winter and over heat in summer. Best viv to get is a wooden 4x2x2, check on equiptment classifieds on here for cheaper ones. x

Also glass vivs tend to have higher humidity unless there is good ventilation, you need to avoid high humidity to aviod respiritory issues
