Default Beardie and Salad

Hey

I have been giving my beardie fresh greens everyday, and when I come back in the afternoon they are all mushed up and looks like they have been spat out.

My house mate caught him eating them and spitting them out, why would a beardie do that does any one know?

Cheer Sam

What greens are you feeding your beardie?

Do you chop them up enough? and have you tried different greens?

This may be due to a dislike in the food you are providing... The BD that I care for doe the same thing but that is during hand feeding as he has a few screws loose due to a poor previous owner. The BD I have to hand feed will not eat pepper (of any colour) nor leafy greens. I found I can only get him to feed on grapes, carrot, sweet potato, and sometimes mango and papaya.

Keep trying a variety of different F&V.

Also what vitamin supplement are you dusting the F&V with as some taste bitter and the animals will also spit them out. What ever you are using simply dust the food very lightly and allow it to soak in before feeding so it almost disguises the supplement.

I hope this helps.

Also btw... the smaller and more manageable the size of the food is the more success you will have.

Bearded Dragons and Plated Lizards are two lizard species of a very small group which are actually moe inclined to feed apon attractive looking food as opposed to 'mm im hungry' its more of a 'oo! yellow, yum'.

its very finely chopped up carotts butternut squash sweet potato rocket and water cress. He does seem to eat it out of my hand or when no one is around he will have a nibble. It worries me that he is not eating enough he will eat plenty of crickts and locust though.

How old is he , they tend not to eat loads of greens at young age ,

mine eats quite a lot now at 8 months , but my two babys eat a little nibble , try pouring live foods on to salad they then get a taste by accident and realise they like it
