Question Help please

Hi all,

I'm very new to this (forums) so please bare with me and my endless questions. It's so IMPORTANT TO US TO GET THIS RIGHT!!

We have just got Two adorable Russian torts, oh how great they are .

My Problem is that the shop we got them from gave conflicting advice about what to put them on after worming. The Shop owner said to leave them on News papper for two weeks then she changed her mind and said a month??????

I thought the ink was poisoness and not good for anything regarding any kind of pet???? Going by previous hairy creatures I've had.

Please can somebody help me?

A very concerned owner.

Thanks ever so much for the info. We had their substrate (60% Sand and 40% Top soil) in their home before they arrived but as she said News paper we took it all out .........will put it all back.

Thanks again....

newspaper is not poisonous ,i keep all my reps on it and i know quite a few people who keep theirs including torts on it ,its advantages are ,easy to get hold of ,cheap easy to clean and if an animal is ill ie runny poo or blood easy to spot

All info is welocme here as Torts are a new pet to us. We have read so much on them (books and the net!) and there is SO much CONFLICTING advice. Nothing like the spoken word.

Once I had taken the Paper out and put in their substrate they seemed to be a lot happier and started to dig, which was great to see. However, you do make a valid point about the paper being a good source of detection, I shall bare this in mind.

Many thanks for your imput, as I said at the begining of this thread, it's very important to us to get this right for the welfare of our torts.

Krista.
