Post heat mats

hi im new to keeping reptiles and im getting a leo at the end of the month

how big does the heat mat have to be and does it cover the whole viv ?

any good websites u know of i can get some of please say

Usually it only has to cover a third or half, not sure on leos tho so i'd see what other people say, nice gamerscore

also do u need anything else for a heat mat or do you just have the heat mat ???

for a leo you need to cover 1/2 to 2/3 of the viv so there's a cool spot as well, although the smaller the viv the smaller the cool spot would be if you're covering a 3rd of the viv - ie in an 18inch viv a heat mat covering 2 thirds would be 12 inches and only 6 inches for a cool spot..

you'll need to run the mat off a thermostat (matstat) to control the heat so it doesn't get too hot.

there's loads out there including the classifieds on here and eBay. For a single heatmat the microclimate mini matstat 100 (or something like that) is a good choice. Fairly cheap at around £20 new but be check your local reptile shops before ordering online so the postage doesn't bump the price up too much.

www.swiftpetsupplies.co.uk do them for £22.74 including delivery.
