Default Bearded dragon setup help

Hi guys/girls.... I've just bought my first bearded dragon setup. I've got everything I need etc to give him/her a great home.im a bit confused though about the habistat dimming stat! What does it do and what does the prob do? And I take it the prob should be on the sand....and I keep reading different temps for the hot end what's an ideal temp? All help and advice would be awesome as I'd love to get it set up and running for a few days then go get my beardie

A thermostat is there to control the output of your heat bulb to maintain a steady temp. It is very essential. Take a look at this thread, it has a good explanation from different views of how to set it up. Research enough and have a go yourself, eventually you'll understand what works best for you and your setup.

Ok thank you so would you recommend the stat prob in the cool end or centre of the viv... It's only 3x2x2 and I will get a bigger viv as he/she grows I've been told to put the probe in the cool end?

Honestly, there is no right answer, I have had success with my probe in the hot end and in the centre. I can't really say any more than was said in that thread I linked in the earlier post. Try it in the cool end if that's what your thinking, you'll probably find you may have to move it slightly anyway, you'll rarely get it spot on first time. The best thing with this is not to ask others what they think as its your setup. You understand the basics now so the only way to learn is to have a go and keep fiddling until its spot on as each viv and setup differs!
