Default Horsfield tortoise not very active

Hi is it normal for a horsfield tortoise to not be very active this time of year. We were advised to keep him in viv because he is in the kitchen and it is cold in there, so it would be easier to keep the correct temp. He comes out for food but then goes back into his house.

Yes, most would be hibernating at this time of year.

We need to know a lot more information, ie temperatures (both hot and cold ends), substrate, how old the tortoise is, diet etc.

I imagine he was bought from a shop and see you have only had him since Christmas, so a worm count check ie a poo check, would be a good idea.

I would re-post in the main Shelled section as more people will see and be able to help.
