Default Exo terra heat mat question

Got another question, I've just gone an bought my leopard gecko an exo terra tank and I don't know where to put the heat mat? Does it go inside the tank under the substrate? Or taped to the bottom of the tank?

Put it underneath a glass enlosure. You can tape it to the bottom of the tank but you must then have an air gap underneath to prevent too much heat build up cracking the tank. You must also keep the substrate only a few mm thick. So you should have: Table/cabinet, then a few mm air gap, then heatmat attached to the glass, glass, substrate. Remember you must also have a thermostat to prevent overheating.
