Default eBay or branded? and a lamp holder question.

Does anyone have any experience in eBay (heat emitters/ceramic lamp holders) vs Branded.

Branded is almost 150% more money...

I need 3 emitters, 3 holders, 3 cages and 3 stats lol
my night time temps at the min are making me paranoid.

Also, what do you guys use to "pin" your lamp holders? cable tacks?

I don't want these falling on my gals and guys.

Dude check out Microclimates AHS heaters, i dont know how the add up in price in comparison to what you are looking at but they are generally cheaper then buying stats/ceramics/holders and a guard to protect your rep from coming into contact with them, just a thought. I have never bought anything off ebay myself so i cant say otherwise (cable tacks to hold the wire up against the top of the viv, and U shaped nails to hold the lamp holder in place for a bit more strength (tacs snaps fairly easy if say a large python desides to piss around with it :P)

Branded everytime for heating. There are some very dangerous kits on ebay. That is if you prefer your house on the better side of crispy.

I bought 2 150w eBay ceramics yesterday... I don't see how they can pose a danger because all the danger of ceramic bulbs are within the fitting themselfs.. But I am going to change them over time for brands anyway.

All my lamp holders are Komodo.

I did also manage to pickup 2 16cm guards off eBay yesterday by
Pro rep for £8.99. Well chuffed

I gutted all my spare lamps such as exo terra glowlight and lucky reptile reflector.. Ripped out the ceramic fittings and re wired them to get Some more fittings.. Just waiting on my self adhesive cable clips now.

I have unbranded ones off ebay, not had any issues so far and they are suitable for a much higher wattage than the branded products I was looking at for a higher price, think I paid about 4 pounds each. you have to wire them up yourself though. I prefer how they look in the viv too as they are really close to the ceiling. The link below is like what I use.

My Pets

3x Black cats 1x Horsfield tortoise
2x Dwarf Lop bunnies 1x Caatinga rainbow boa
4x Chinchillas 1x Fire bellied newt
2x Zebra finches 1x Firebellied toad
1x Thayer's king snake 1x Albino boa
1x Short tailed Opossum 1x Lutino Parrotlet
