Default Sphagnum Moss

Does anyone know if it would be safe to collect sphagnum moss from woods to put into a small enclosure for snake for added moisture.

Many thanks
Graham

I would blast it in microwave for 5 mins before use (let it cool of course) to kill bacteria/nasties. I do this even with shop bought stuff aswell. It doesnt damage the moss and it retains its springyness

Fantastic as there is loads up here. Only really noticed it the other day when i was on my way back down from fishing and collected a couple of logs and thought omg there is loads of the stuff.

So i take it you give it a blast in the micro and then wet it and squeeze dry and place in a tub ?
